(didn't look in the lower) But I have been very surprised at the lack of
wood frog choruses and wood frogs themselves. Usually, they are floating all
around staring up at us and now it's hard to spot any. I'm hanging on to the
theory that some subset of the populations, both salamander and wood frog,
decided they weren't yet desperate enough to migrate last Monday and Tuesday
since the rain wasn't still coming down after dark. What do you think, Fran,
will more come if one of the next couple of nights is rainy, or have they
given up?
And 2 bullfrogs is disappointing. We saw one, but hoped for no breeding
pair. Do you know if that pool dries every year? And we also saw a green
frog that looked like a "blotchy" (instead of spotted) leopard frog.
