I give up. I am predicting things about as well as the weather people! The weather did not pan out as predicted and neither did any significant movement here. Only about 0.1" of rain stopped in late afternoon. It remained misty. Temps did rise to 48.
Alan Harris and I arrived at the site at 8:00 pm (7:00 EST) and over next 75 minutes had six spotted salamanders heading in and one female heading away. Twenty plus spring peepers survived, but unfortunately ten plus were hit. A small woodfrog chorus harmonizing with the spring peepers was a nice addition to the night. I checked again at 6:15 this morning...one freshly killed spotted male, heading away, seems to have been a victim of the early morning traffic.
Tonight looks very promising, but then again, I've given up predicting...remember? Just have to wait and see!!
Good herpin'
